A water feature exploratory drain and clean:
If it’s been a while since the last clean, you have inherited a new pond or it is a pond we haven’t built or maintained before then an exploratory drain and clean is a good idea. This allows us to fully clean the pond and associated features and to assess the pond and equipment. We can then explain your pond or water feature to you, let you know if there are any issues to resolve or adjustments to make. We will let you know how the pond is set up and how to proceed with its management in the future.
What kit is used during a pond maintenance visit?
Kit we may use during a pond maintenance visit can include: pumps and hoses, pond vacuums, portable or temporary pools, pressure washers, hand tools and power tools for pruning and plant management.
Tasks we may undertake during a pond clean include:
Every pond cleaning or water feature maintenance visit will differ. Below are a list of common steps we take to ensure your feature looks and operates as intended. We have used a pond drain and clean for an example.
Every pond cleaning or water feature maintenance visit will differ. Below are a list of common steps we take to ensure your feature looks and operates as intended. We have used a pond drain and clean for an example.
Pond drain down:
Remove water, fish, wildlife and plants to temporary pools.
Pond cleaning:
Cleaning down the pond and or vacuuming to remove waste. Waste is applied to your garden beds, veg patch, compost or under hedges to return nutrients to
your garden and reduce the need and cost for waste removal.

Aquatic plant management
This might involve cutting back, reducing, separating &/or splitting current plants. We may re-pot and fertilise existing plants if necessary. We also supply aquatic plants and may supplement the existing planting with new ones if requested.
Cleaning additional water features:
This might include waterfalls, fountainscapes, water features, fountains or spitters.
Equipment servicing:
Assessing your pond filtration and circulation and aeration systems. Stripping down filters and pumps, cleaning, lubricating and testing units. We may replace seals, hoses or fittings and UV bulbs if required. Additional charges may apply.
Refilling the pond:
Returning the stored water from the temporary pools and/or topping up with conditioned water.
We will return your fish, wildlife and plants at this point. This is a good opportunity to assess their health.
Apply treatments:
Here we add conditioners, supplements and treatments if required. Organic treatments including boosters for enhancing bacteria and enzymes. Additives to target water parameters like pH or to control nutrient availability. Additives or treatments to target a specific issue, for example algae, coloured water or surface foam.
If you have invested in an automatic dosing system, we will check the bag or bottle and replace or refill if required.
Finishing up:
The pond is turned back on
Equipment and features are test run to make sure they operate correctly again.
The site is cleaned and tidied, equipment is returned to the vehicles.
Walk Through:
We hand the pond back to the client.
Provide advice on any potential issues and future maintenance.
Here we can discuss the pond and answer any questions you may have. A written assessment can be provided too.

Pond & water feature leak detection:
We will run you through our leak detection process to determine where your water loss is from and how to resolve or repair the issue.
Pond liner repairs:
We can assess and repair a variety of pond and water feature leaks.
Common causes include:
- Damaged equipment; split pipes or perished gaskets.
- Dirty or blocked filters causing over-topping.
- Blocked waterfalls or rills causing a bypass of water.
- Low or dropped edges; when a waterfall or pond liner edge gets depressed below its correct level. Often as a result of human or animal action.
- A hole in the lining; causes include: Accidents; dropped debris or garden tools. Animal action; anything from rats chewing to foxes playing and badgers burrowing. Plant action; everything from fallen trees to bamboo roots.
Pond liner patching:
We can locate liner damage and apply pond liner repair patches. If it is beyond repair we offer a full relining service.
Relining & liner replacement:
If your liner has reached the end of its life, perished, seams have failed or there is irreparable damage we can replace your liner. We use top quality modern EPDM flexible liners and protective underlay and/or overlay.
A failed liner is a great opportunity to have a rethink. We can enhance and refresh your existing water feature for you. Alternatively we can create something new and beautiful for you with our pond design and construction service.
We also undertake Commercial & large pond maintenance, de-silting and vegetation clearance.
If you have a water body of any size that requires assessment or maintenance then please do contact us to start the process.
We look forward to working with you.
